Gonville - Whanganui, Aotearoa

This design was to retain the existing fruit trees adding edging to define area garden beds. A mixed habitat garden and easy care wild flowers create a welcoming entrance with year round colour and interest.

Works

The ground was sandy with Kikuyu grass, some areas with weed mat and compacted toppings. This was removed, edging installed, and cardboard laid under organic compost. Plantings were mulched to feed plants and trees and to slow evaporation. The habitat area of flowering trees, shrubs and grasses is mainly New Zealand natives, but includes Leptospermum for winter colour and Phylica pubescens for texture and movement.
